I know frame packs are often seen but… I have an Angelwings softshell jacket and it was 100% worth it until my child started walking more independently. It can also accommodate back wearing. That specific jacket isn't waterproof like a real rain jacket, but it was fine for a light drizzle. With baby on me it was plenty warm enough too. Mamalila is another good brand.
